…a lost dream…

“Gid did you have a good sleep?” I asked my 4-year old one day. “Did you have any dreams?”

“No…” he said sadly, his shoulders slumped in a dejected pose. “I lost them.”

“You lost your dreams?”

“Yeah…” he said. “I can’t find them anywhere. They left and went to a rodeo.”

“Oh…” I said. “That’s too bad.”

“Yeah, I used to have lots of dreams. About ghost-es and fire-breathing dragons and lions and tigers and big, ugly hyenas. I love mean animals.”

“Wow…” I said.

“Yeah, but I don’t like Pete’s Dragon.” he added. “He’s kind of funny…but stupid.” He glanced up at me to see if he would get in trouble for saying “stupid”. I let it slide this time.

“Well…” I said. “I hope you get your dreams back.”

“Yeah…me too.”

Being a 4-year old is some tough stuff.
